This summer we’ve done a fair amount of driving, from long trips to a music festival to shorter outings to see friends or visit attractions. So last weekend we wanted to stay local and have a nice family meal out – we visited the new Garden Kitchen.
It’s always refreshing to discover something new in your area and the Garden Kitchen Restaurant is the newly renovated dining experience at the Wyevale garden centre in Wakefield (Carr Gate) – we went to see what it had to offer!
Of the 249 Wyevale centres nationwide, only a few will get the new Garden Kitchen restaurant. Here is manager Sharon and her team who were very attentive on the day we visited.
There was a good selection of hot and cold foods from toasties, jacket spuds, and sandwiches to some specials and a nice array of desserts. My husband and I went for the hot beef carvery sandwich which comes with an edible flower!
My son chose from the kid’s menu (chicken goujons – they looked lovely), my son enjoyed fish & chips and then we had a lovely dessert. The prices were very reasonable from the snacks to the meals and we all cleared our plates!
The food was fresh and tasty and the atmosphere calm and unhurried. Adjoining the restaurant is a kids’s soft play area which can be hired out exclusively for two hours for kids’s parties. But mothers and tots can come and enjoy a cappuccino anytime while the kids play! Having been to many soft play area parties when my kids were little, I have to say it’s nice to find a place that is airy and open, whereas some soft play areas can be quite dark and dingy affairs.
