For my first ‘Street Style Mums’ interview I chose my good friend and fellow writer, Anita Marsh.
Anita is an Equestrian Columnist and has a fabulous sense of style, whilst being a busy wife and mother to a 6 year old son. Here’s what she had to say!
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: It’s an equestrian based style, kind of tweed, very ‘British countryside!’
Q: Have you always dressed this way?
A: I started to dress this way when I got my first horse. It’s definitely a different world of fashion! My usual daytime look is denim breeches, a polo top, jodhpurs, Joules waistcoat, Hunter wellies or riding boots. I muck out every day and ride 5 times a week!
Q: How important do you think it is to have style when you’re a mother?
A: It’s even more important to have your own sense of who you are because you can lose it after having a baby. Once you’re past the all consuming baby stage, it’s important for your child to see you make an effort, to smell perfume on you, so they see who you are and they will remember this as they grow.
Q: If you have limited time, what are the essentials you do before leaving the house?
A: Every day I moisturise with Clarins, and it must have a Sun Protection Factor of 25 at least as I’m outdoors a lot. I rarely wear make up unless I’m competing or going out socially, but I always have on my Factor 25!
Q: What are you wearing today? Where is it from?
A: Jacket, Brooch, Shirt, Scarf – all Joules.
Jeans and belt – River Island.
Boots – Faith.
Earrings – Debenhams.
Watch – Tag Heuer.
Bracelet – Accessorize.
Rings – Tiffany and my Mum’s opal!

About Street Style Mums.
“I have always loved fashion and the powerful impact it can have on both a person’s outlook and self esteem. Fashion is a way of communicating with the world, before you have even said a thing, and often after having babies, new mothers can ‘lose themselves’ somewhat. I had to claw myself back after having my own two kids, and these days I enjoy wearing make up every day and dressing in nice clothes. So I wanted to celebrate those mothers like me who lead busy lives but still take the time to make the effort to look great, and have a distinct sense of style.
In this Street Style Mums series, I will ask these women about their philosophies on life and style, how they look so good and how they would describe their style, to provide inspiration for other busy mothers. If you know a stylish mother or are one yourself and would like to be featured on this blog, please get in touch!”
